Sopresa!

I arrived back yesterday, and Nan had a plan to surprise Oslo. I couldn't not get this on video:

Joy!

Nan has diligently been forwarding photos of the adventures that Oslo is having with her. It's hot in Ottawa now, though that doesn't stop Oslo from exerting as much effort as possible into enjoying The Ball on grass!

"Just TRY getting the ball from me!"

Ohhh yeeeaaahhh!

Something smells interesting here...

Really, it doesn't get better than this:

What a day!

Primos!

Over the weekend we had a visit all the way from Madrid! Cousin P and her fiance J were in town and we almost missed a photo op...at the last second we realized that a photo was necessary to show their visit with Oslo in Canada. The last time we had seen them was over a year ago!! J, I apologize for not ensuring that your eyes were open before ending the photo session...I've posted both blinking photos :) Thanks for coming to Ottawa! xoxo

La abuela! Y arroz con habichuela!

Tomorrow I'm leaving for a week with Tita Paquita (see post from earlier this week). We took Oslo over to his Nan's today for a week of adventures with her. Nan is graciously taking photos and sending, I will update when I can! Here is Oslo, enjoy a rest after what appears to be a good play in the wet grass:

Ahhhhhhh, outdoor space!

Long-lost relatives

This morning was a cold, dreary, Sunday morning, not the kind of weather that you expect to see on August 22. Ok, maybe I should face the fact that weather is that unpredictable in Ottawa. Oslo was having a barky morning, he just needed to be vocal. Until finally, towards the end of our walk we ran into Dexter.

Dexter is Mischief's cousin, they had met once at the dog park. Oslo was so excited to see another Boston Bulldog. I'm quite sure he knew that this was a relative of Mischief's, and you can see him getting his chops ready for a good play:

Dexter was equally enamoured with Oslo:
Dexter has a similar attraction to cameras as Mischief, it's like the sound of the shutter is irresistable:

Look at that face! You can see that they were in mid-play and Dexter took a very speedy turn for the camera, and Oslo was left to take another plan of attack!

Barber Shop

In the nearly three years that Oslo has been in our lives, he has never been professionally groomed. J and I would bathe him and trim his fur, he had his neater moments, but he did grow up on the beach, so it's no surprise that he often looked like a hippy. Well, Saturday was his first appointment with the groomer at Dawn of a New Day. Here he is with his lovely stylist before the grooming, she's a gem!:

The whole deal took about 2.5 hours, they called me to pick him up when he was ready, and I arrived to this:
I've heard of dogs being shy after their hair cuts, not this guy, he's clearly fully aware of how dapper he's looking:

Oslo usually gets quite a bit of attention, but on this fine Saturday morning, we walked past the Museum of Nature, kid central at prime time, it took us about 20 minutes to get around the building, as this kept happening:

Never before have I seen so many 6-10 year olds walking like zombies towards Oslo absently muttering "Can I pet your dog?".

Nosh

Not that long ago I posted about the giant bag of food that we got for Oslo. 13.61kg or 30lb to be exact. Bigger than Oslo himself. I never did find a home for that bag, it was simply too big. It sat on a chair in the kitchen since it arrived. Well, IAMS found a solution for me. They call it salmonella, and recalled the giant bag of food. I was able to get a refund, which is great as you can imagine how much 13.61kg of food that contains kangaroo may cost.

If you're reading this, you know that I am a perma-pedestrian. You can see where this is going. Oslo graciously helped me get what was left of the food, about 12.61kg, into a shopping bag, and off we went on the 30 minute walk to the vet.

It was hot and humid out:

Luckily we were able to make a pit stop at the deliciously cool grass of the Museum of Nature and do a little roll around:

Oslo has sensitive skin, hence the special dog food. The vet foolishly tried to put him on vegetarian food. Imagine. There are no words for the look on my face when I was told this over the phone. The idea was slammed and I requested other options. Verdict: Duck and potato.

He's starting to look like a tourist with all the shots I'm taking of him posing with his food:

Hip - hip- hooray for a smaller bag to be carried back!

We're all happy campers after a good walk and some nosh:

Catching up

I've been delinquent in posting. Oslo and I arrived home last Wednesday, and Mischief has continued her stay with her sister. Oslo's Nan took a few photos of him while he was visiting, I thought I'd share a few:

Behind the chair is one of the best places to play!

It's cold and rainy outside, yet those squirrels are still out there!

Being cozy after a wet walk, ahhhh!

Vacation!

We're all on holiday this week. I'm in NB with my dad, Oslo is with his Nan, and Mischief is with his sisters. We all miss each other but we're having fun. I'm sure all of you out there are missing the pooches and their antics as well, so here is a video of the favourite antics of Mischief and Oslo to hold you over:
